Role Responsibility
Customer excellence drives our success, and we recognise that it’s our on the road crews who represent the business and brand at every stage of the customer journey. As the Transport Manager for our Doncaster, Scunthorpe and Lincoln out bases, you will have overall responsibility for the Transport and Service Delivery functions, ensuring our customers receive the best quality service always.
Your colleagues are spread over a wider area and you will need to spend time at different out bases therefore, regular travel (and overnight stays) will be involved. As you will also be reporting in to our Transport Manager at our Wigan hub, regular travel to Wigan will also be involved.
Key responsibilities;
- Build and motivate your teams of skilled service delivery crews
- Efficient fleet utilisation and cost control (whilst always ensuring the operation is both effective and compliant)
- Lead on-site resources (colleagues, vehicles, and equipment) to ensure we have everything required in the right place at the right time to not only meet, but also flex, to our customers changing needs.
- Manage colleagues - even when you are not at the same site every day
- Take lead for legal compliance and safety
- Identify opportunities for improved efficiencies within the Transport function, recommending and implementing changes where needed and sharing best practice across our network of hubs and Out bases.
- You will need to be resilient, work well under pressure and make prompt decisions which protect customer service and the delivery schedule as well as remaining commercially focused.
- Be responsible for the resourcing, development and management of the colleagues in your team, ensuring the service delivery crews are fully trained in all areas, in particular driver CPC, service delivery standards and product installation.
The Ideal Candidate
This is an evolving role which will suit somebody who has experience supporting and enhancing transport operations. Over the next few years we have big ambitions to grow and there will be positive change to the systems and processes in use at ArrowXL.
The successful candidate will need to be capable of working in a changing environment with the additional pressure to deliver.
The nature of the role is such that as well as having an aptitude for transport operations and people management, you must be well organised, have an eye for detail, be able to communicate effectively and influence people, as well as the capacity to take a common-sense approach to a situation.
Key skills
- At least 2 years’ operating as a Manager/Leader within a transport operation
- Demonstrable experience improving transport operations and introducing operational excellence
- Lead, using available performance data (driving standards, infringements, Trustpilot scores) to coach and develop team members
- Develop, understand and interpret financial data to manage and improve resource costs
- Deliver against company and customer KPI’s
- Demonstrable commercial and financial acumen
- Strong people skills – able to influence, coach and develop
- Possess a good knowledge of Road Transport Regulations, hold a national CPC and ensure that ‘O’ Licence requirements are adhered to
- Full UK driving licence
Package Description
- Basic hourly rate of £13.99 per hour (annual salary £29,099)
