Control Tower Shift Manager
Job Introduction
Our support functions are the foundations of our operations supporting our colleagues and crew to deliver.
An excellent opportunity has arisen where we are looking for a control tower manager, to support us in improving the national trunking operational performance working as part of a team monitoring operational activity across a 24/6 period.
Role Responsibility
We operate circa 230 vehicles to deliver our final mile solution and in addition we plan daily collections from our clients bringing product into our four main hubs and trunking goods between the hubs so that product is in the right place at the right time to service our customers. To do this we utilise both our in-house artic and wagon and drag fleet supported by a number of service delivery partners and contractors. This is a collaborative role and so you will work closely with many different departments (warehouse, gatehouse, commercial) to support in the mitigation of service issues to ensure Clients and the network is on or above SLA targets.
The role needs a strong character who can work at pace and has the capability to challenge, influence and develop our ways of working as well as someone who has excellent technical planning skills and is comfortable working on a variety of systems.
You will use your knowledge to provide analytical support to the operational team to understand root cause, identify solutions and identify opportunities for improved efficiencies through daily trunking reports across the network, recommending and supporting the implementation of changes where needed and sharing best practice across our business.
The business is going through positive change as we drive towards ‘One Best Way’ so this role will suit a coordinator who embraces change and has an appetite for continuous improvement.
Working Hours
Split shifts - Monday and Tuesday day shift and Thursday and Friday night shift
The Ideal Candidate
This is a role which will suit a dynamic and progressive individual with recent experience of working within a highly competitive and pressurised transport operating environment.
Key skills
- A self-starter demonstrating independence of thought and action within a logistics environment
- The ability to interpret and make recommendations using available performance data
- Deliver against client SLA’s
- Strong communication skills
- An analytical mind, numerate and problem-solving skills
- Good IT skills with experience of working with all Microsoft applications
Package Description
- Annual salary of £28,000 plus 20% shift allowance for night working
