Transport Shift Controller – Worcester

Most of our work is taking responsibility for storing and delivering large, heavy, bulky items – the kind of work that typically needs two people to handle. Quite often these items need installing, which we do too.

Here at ArrowXL we run our trunking fleet to collect stock from clients and deliver returns, while maintaining the correct balance of trailers across the network (ensuring everything is in the right place, at the right time). We are now recruiting for a Transport Shift Controller to join our busy team in Worcester who will control the daily trailer collection schedules across our network and control vehicle movements onsite, 24/7.

Role Responsibility

Reporting to the Network Control leader and with the support from Administrators, your duties will include;

  • Ensure the network hits all agreed collection and inter-depot trunk schedules
  • Liaise with sub-contractors to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective routes and service are delivered
  • Work with internal ArrowXL teams, clients, managers and key personnel (on site and on the phone)
  • Accurate reporting, line management and compliance responsibilities
  • Support with the management of our fleet (units & trailers) - ensuring defects & PMIs are completed and compliant
  • Manage a team of drivers across our busy network, reacting to changes in plans
  • Work with the warehouse teams to ensure trailer flow on site
  • Allocate and manage paperwork for inbound and outbound loads
  • Ensure security and seal checks are in managed for all vehicles
  • Support other projects around trailer utilisation

The Ideal Candidate

With the amount of applications expected for this position, we will only be able to proceed forward with candidates who match our essential requirements stated below:

  • Minimum of one years’ experience of working in a busy traffic/transport office
  • Experience of working in a trunking and/or general haulage operation (in-house or 3PL)
  • Knowledge of Driving regulations for LGV, Working Time Directive, Driving Hours etc.
  • Excellent Geographical knowledge
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to manage conflicting priorities

Package Description

Additional Information:

  • Annual salary of £28,800 
  • 40 hours per week - 05:45 – 18:15
  • You will be part of a 4-person team on site, working 7 shifts across 2 weeks (4 on, 3 off & 3 on, 4 off rota).
  • Due to the requirements of this role, there will be either a Saturday OR a Sunday shift as part of your rota
