Payroll Team Leader

ArrowXL are excited to announce that we’re currently recruiting for a Payroll Team Leader to join our People services team and be based from our Distribution Centre in Wigan. As our Payroll Team Leader you will be responsible for all aspects of our colleagues pay cycle, ensuring the timely and accurate payment of our 1300+ employees, every month.

Alongside pay, this role will also take part in processing key business reports and all colleague benefits, plus effective data management and system maintenance. Role Responsibility

  • The processing of all new starters, leavers, Change of Terms and Conditions (including issuing letters and contracts), the processing, recording and payment of all Court Orders, plus any other changes to the pay record, also sending out e-payslips and P45’s
  • Responsible for the monthly uploads of all additional payments and absence data into our payroll system
  • The calculation and processing of all payments and adjustments in relation to absence, including Company and Statutory sick pay, plus any other Statutory payments
  • The accurate reporting and submissions to the HMRC, including the EPS and FPS, along with the monthly upload of the changes to tax codes and student loans.  Also, making sure the payments are made on time every month
  • Running the monthly pensions assessment process, processing opt ins, opt outs and changes to contributions, whilst reconciling the monthly pensions submission for our pension provider
  • Set up, management and process of our company benefits, including Childcare Vouchers, C2W, Holiday Entitlement’s, Private Medical Insurance etc
  • Responsible for the maintenance of all online Colleague Records
  • Responding to all colleague employee and financial reference requests
  • Providing accurate and timely reporting for Finance and third parties, weekly and monthly to support the business
  • Owner of our Payroll inbox, with the team, responding to queries and requests in a timely and professional manner
  • Putting in robust solutions to reduce query numbers by improving internal processes and communication with the wider business
  • Assist the Payroll Manager in the development and roll out of additional colleague benefits
  • Supporting the Payroll Manager with the processing of P11D’s, P60’s and the PSA so that they are issued accurately and efficiently
  • Train, support and coach other members of the Team and deputise for the Payroll Manager as required

The Ideal Candidate

With the amount of applications expected for this newly created role, we will only be able to proceed forward with candidates who match our essential requirements stated below:

  • Relevant Payroll/CIPP qualification (Level 3 or above) or working towards
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in a similar payroll position
  • Good solid knowledge on pay elements, tax, benefits and pension matters
  • Experience of working in a fast paced and changing environment
  • Competent and confident with the use of MS Office packages, with advanced Excel skills
  • Previous experience of working with various payroll systems, knowledge of Miracle (NAV) payroll and Kronos time and attendance would be advantageous
  • Good communication and time management skills, able to manage changing priorities as required
  • High attention to detail and accuracy with the ability to work to strict deadlines
  • Strong and supportive team player with the ability to work independently
