Operational Trainer - Wigan

We are currently on the lookout for an Operational Trainer to join our award-winning Training team, and play a rewarding part in developing colleagues capability and performance through the delivery of high quality training workshops, development programmes and other training initiatives.

People are at the heart of our business, and as an Operational Trainer you would work with multiple teams in the Warehouse, Transport and Support Centre operations, playing a pivotal part in the successful delivery of Training requirements, ultimately supporting the ongoing growth and success of ArrowXL and its people.

Role Responsibility

  • Deliver highly engaging and quality training for a diverse audience, in safe learning environments
  • Conduct driver, MHE and other technical assessments and make/record judgements based on competency, knowledge and skills you have observed
  • Provide feedback to colleagues and managers on progress
  • Deliver workshops aimed at increasing the skills and capabilities of the workforce. These might include: On-boarding and induction, Frontline job skills training, Technical/specialist training
  • Maintain 100% compliance of mandatory training within your region
  • Ensure effective planning, scheduling and communication of all training and assessment activity; ensuring high levels of productivity
  • Offer support which meets the needs of individual learners
  • Be progressive in developing ideas and present fresh thinking and creativity when approaching a task or problem
  • Engage with key stakeholders, managers, learners, and subject matter experts to ensure all training materials are fit for purpose
  • Engage and build open and honest professional and positive relationships with all colleagues
  • Ensure all required documentation is completed accurately and within specified timescales
  • Ensure that all training events and attendances are routinely recorded on our in house systems
  • Attend and participate in meetings to develop and review training and processes, such as safe of systems of work, standard operating procedures and risk assessments as required

Due to the nature of the role, there will be occasions where you will be required to travel to different ArrowXL depots (with some overnight stays).

The Ideal Candidate

With the amount of applications expected for this position, we will only be able to proceed forward with candidates who match our essential requirements stated below:

  • Experience of training and or coaching, ideally in Logistics or Warehousing
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise business and training needs
  • Experience of developing training programmes and identifying improvements that could be made to the training programmes
  • Full driving licence

It would also be ideal if you had one or more of the following;

  • Have a Cat C or Cat C+E licence
  • Experience of delivering MHE training or highly competent operator of MHE equipment
  • Hold a training (PTLLS, AET) and/or an assessor qualification (A1, Assessor award)
  • RTITB and/or DSA qualified

The ideal candidate would be someone experienced in Warehouse and Transport Training. HOWEVER, we can provide further training for this position, and if you only have experience in Warehouse or Transport training, we will offer support to develop your skills in areas you are not experienced in.
