National Planning Support Manager

Here at ArrowXL our National Planning Team are responsible for planning and resourcing 90% upwards of vehicle movements each day.  We are the strategic point of call for network and new business modelling, fleet utilisation and planning performance.  We directly influence vehicle mix,

We are now looking for a Planning Support Manager to enhance our planning proposition, technical solutions and team development.

Role Responsibility

Working with ArrowXL’s Operational and Commercial leadership and management teams and reporting into the National Planning Manager you’ll be an integral part of the Senior Management Team.  Advanced Planning Skills and experience along with Paragon skills (ideally Workbench and HDX) are a must for anyone applying for this role. HDX implementation experience will be an advantage.  Line management experience is desirable and you’ll be a great communicator.  This is a national role and will include travel and some overnight stays

Duties will include but are not limited to

  • Developing and implementing ArrowXL’s planning and tracking systems
  • Managing Planning Team members either directly or indirectly
  • Providing technical coaching and training
  • Developing and enhancing reporting solutions
  • Assisting with Network enhancement and design
  • Assisting with day-to-day Primary and secondary planning
  • Strategic modelling and development

The Ideal Candidate

This is a role which will suit a dynamic and progressive individual with experience of working within a highly competitive and pressurised environment.  You’ll have several years planning experience in a fast-moving environment and be confident making decisions at a senior level. 

Key skills

  • Experienced in Route Planning & Scheduling
  • General haulage, trunking & returns (in house or 3PL) knowledge
  • Good geographic knowledge of the UK
  • Ideally you’ll have a CPC qualification. You must have a good knowledge of U.K. and EU driving regulations for LGV, Working Time Directive, Operator Licencing, etc.
  • Detailed experience of Transport Management and Planning systems including Paragon
  • Excellent MS Office skills (especially Excel)
  • People management and development
  • Experience of working with senior teams and managers.

 

Due to the location of our Planning Team, individuals who are located within a commutable distance to either our Wigan or Worcester depot are welcome to apply.
