HR Advisor (6 Month Fixed Term Contract) - Wigan

Reporting to the HR Business Partner for the region, you will be experienced enough to hit the ground running and take immediate responsibility for advising on all HR and ER matters in a fast paced environment. This role is for a 6 Month Fixed Term Contract.

You will provide comprehensive advice, coaching, guidance and upskilling to your stakeholder group including first line, middle and senior management, incorporating the full spectrum of the employee lifecycle.

Working as part of a close-knit HR Team, you will also assist with ER casework administration. This will include collating and distributing absence and casework reports, note taking and proactively contacting management to ensure that case records are updated and maintained.  


Main Responsibilities

  • Provide coaching, advice, recommendations and solutions to managers and colleagues on all ER related matters including performance management, grievance and disciplinary matters, absence management,and welfare.
  • Act as trusted advisor to stakeholders, with an emphasis on supporting and enabling.
  • Provision of HR advice on a range of people issues, including complex ER cases and any areas of the employee lifecycle.
  • Ensure that all advice given to managers, colleagues and external parties is of a high quality, consistent and delivered in a customer-focused way.
  • Administration support, such as filing and minute taking in meetings.
  • Compiling and distributing absence and case reports on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Keeping case management records up to date and proactively contacting managers for updates. 
  • Organising Occupational Health assessment days and filing relevant documents.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience in managing complex ER casework is essential.
  • Experience working in a unionised environment is essential.
  • Experience in redundancy, re-structuring & TUPE is desirable.
  • Proven generalist background with the credibility and gravitas to interact with all levels of the business.
  • Able to build effective working relationships quickly and have the resilience to constructively challenge stakeholders effectively.
  • At least 2 years’ experience working in a similar level HR role within a related environment (logistics, manufacturing or retail).
  • CIPD Level 5 (or equivalent).
  • Able to demonstrate commerciality and stakeholder engagement.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to introduce change effectively.
  • Self-starter who is always looking for ways to improve the way we do things.
  • Ability to cope with rapid pace of change.
  • Can be relied upon to deliver to tight deadlines.
  • Full, valid UK driving licence is essential.
