Fleet Engineer and Compliance Manager

Job Introduction

ArrowXL is now recruiting for a Fleet Engineer and Compliance Manager to join our busy Transport team in Worcester. The role will be to manage the site based Fleet Operation from end to end, this will include a dotted line into the Central Fleet Function where the role will take direction and input into Fleet policies to ensure consistency of implementation across the network.  This role has a high level of technical knowledge to ensure the fleet is compliant and managed cost effectively.

Role Responsibility

 

  • Leading the site fleet team to ensure the following points are achieved in respect of the final mile delivery, site unit and trailer fleet:
    • A high standard of legal compliance – underpinned by having the right policies, processes and procedures in place
    • Management of vehicle maintenance schedules
    • Regular assessment of the vehicles to ensure roadworthiness – post incident & repair
    • Ensuring DVSA guidelines and requirements are adhered to with regard to roadworthiness
    • Most appropriate and cost-effective route to repair via supplier network
    • VOR management – that includes identifying trends and putting effective processes in place to reduce time off road and associated costs
    • Management of driver’s hours in line with the relevant regulations
    • Proactively engaging with repair and service agents to ensure AXL receive a high standard of service
    • Defect reporting standards are followed
    • Completion of vehicle tracker files and other relevant reports as required
  • Supporting other sites in the region with technical knowledge
  • Carrying out self-audits and health check audits with other sites in the region
  • Supporting the training and development of technical knowledge within the fleet and transport function at site level
  • Ensuring the fleet is inspected in line within the undertakings of the company Operator Licence
  • Understand and solve equipment related issues
  • liaising with key stakeholders across the business including the Central Fleet Function to ensure input to policy and consistency of implementation across the Network of any directives from the National Head of Fleet
  • Sharing best practice and technical knowledge as part of the development of direct and indirect reports
  • Liasing with the other sites within the remit of the role to ensure all of the above is consistent across all sites
  • Leading the site fleet team to ensure management of Fleet activities from end to end as detailed above
    • Trunking network between the transport Homebase and its Outbases including:
    • Rota planning
    • Work allocation
    • Cost management on a daily/weekly basis
  • Reporting on KPI’s in respect of the above

The Ideal Candidate

Experience:

  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment, medium sized transport environment
  • At least 2 years’ experience in leading and managing successful teams

Essential Skills and Attributes:

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, able to navigate the corporate landscape, quickly establish credibility and build effective, collaborative, working relationships at all levels
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills
  • Able to act in a professional manner to the benefit of the company and always maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work well under pressure and in a busy environment
  • Knowledge of the transport industry
  • Tachograph regulations knowledge
  • Large goods vehicle engineering knowledge

Role Specific Requirements:

  • Full UK driving licence
  • Transport Manager CPC Qualification
  • C+E Licence
  • Operational Knowledge of Tachomaster / Checkmaster
  • Transport Industry accreditation /registration
