Job Introduction

ArrowXL are the UK’s leading provider of two person home delivery who strive to make the world of delivery a better place. Most of our work is storing and delivering large, heavy bulky items, the type of work that typically needs two people to handle. Quite often these items need installing – which we do too.

ArrowXL are excited to announce that we’re currently recruiting for a Developer to join the growing IT team as we undertake our journey of upgrading our IT platforms. Being involved in the planning and development of the data architecture and digital proposition transformation, you will ensure that data remains consistent, definitions are clearly defined and performance of the databases and applications are maintained whilst data management and back up tasks are executed.

Role Responsibility

  • Knowledge of SQL server and Oracle databases down to configuration, optimisation, maintenance, and best practice
  • Full stack programming skills utilising ASP.Net Core / Angular / Bootstrap etc
  • API Integration skills using .Net Core and Azure
  • Convertible with IIS and Azure App Service deployments, including security, performance tuning and best practices
  • Monitor database performance to provide fast responses to front-end users and configure/manage all automated alerting
  • Consider both back-end data organisation and front-end accessibility for end-users
  • Support the design and build of the new ArrowXL data warehouse
  • Support the design and build of the new Arrow XL Digital Proposition
  • Create database documentation, including data models, procedures and definitions
  • Map out the logical and physical designs for all planned databases
  • Establish the needs of users and monitor user access and security
  • Maintain data standards, including adherence to the Data Protection Act
  • Maintain, adhere to, and improve UI standards and the overall UX
  • Communicate regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security
  • Commission and install new applications and customise existing applications in order to make them fit for purpose.

The Ideal Candidate

Due to the skillset which is required for this newly created role, we will only be able to proceed forward with candidates that match our essential requirements stated below:

  • Familiarity with the main data manipulation languages and the principles of database design
  • Excellent full stack programming skills focused on Microsoft technologies
  • An understanding of information legislation, such as the Data Protection Act
  • The ability to maintain strong working relationships with colleagues and customers
  • A willingness to keep up to date with developments in new technology
  • A commitment to continuing professional development
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • The ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure
